Join our archaeology-based wellbeing programme for all veterans and service personnel in Midlothian. Our sessions are free and friendly, and there is no experience needed and no pressure to talk or share.

The course offers a chance to:

  • Improve wellbeing through regular outdoor activities
  • Learn practical archaeological and heritage skills
  • Build confidence and develop new interests
  • Meet others with shared experiences in a supportive environment
  • Increase social connection and reduce isolation
  • Enjoy gentle physical activity in a historic setting
  • Explore pathways into volunteering, training and further opportunities

Weekly morning sessions include:

  • Gentle walks
  • Exploring a historic site
  • Simple archaeology activities
  • Recording, map work and handling finds
  • Reflective journaling

The programme is suitable for complete beginners, and no previous archaeology experience is required. We aim to create a welcoming, friendly and inclusive environment where everyone can participate at their own pace.

Everything is optional and taken at your own pace. Families, friends and support workers are welcome.

Lunch and refreshments provided.
