Volunteer Midlothian’s main purpose is to encourage more people to volunteer. It also helps to ensure that people and organisations in Midlothian have access to the best possible expertise and guidance around volunteering.

Volunteer Midlothian helps to connect local volunteers with local opportunities. It does this through the provision of an online database of opportunities, and by supporting people to make contact with local projects and initiatives that are looking for volunteers

It also supports local organisations to do the best they can when working with volunteers, by providing information and advice about good practise in volunteering.

Most of the volunteering opportunities Volunteer Midlothian promotes are on behalf of other local third sector and volunteer-involving organisations.

Volunteer Midlothian is a community planning partner. This means it works closely with other local organisations to help improve opportunities and life chances for people in Midlothian.

Volunteer Midlothian can support you to find a suitable volunteering placement.

Volunteering has been shown to have a positive effect on health and wellbeing for most people and can help with gaining employability and other skills.
