The Warblers: Singing for Lung Health

Who is this for?

  • Anyone experiencing any kind of breathing difficulty

Who provides this?

  • The Warblers

Description

The Warblers is a charity that promotes lung health and general wellbeing by providing singing for lung health groups. The groups are specifically for people with poor lung health or who experience breathing difficulties. The singing sessions are facilitated by experienced song leaders who have undertaken training in this particular area.

The charity is run by a Board of Trustees which manages the business and accounts of the Warblers and makes sure it operates in accordance with charity law.

Participants are introduced to various light exercises and breathing techniques, and sing songs designed to improve breathing control and overall health. In addition to the physical benefits, our participants comment on how they appreciate the social interaction and camaraderie of being with other people in a musical context. It is a safe space in which people can share while simply being themselves. The atmosphere is warm, fun-filled and purposeful.
