Description

Beyond Diagnosis is a new service from Bipolar Scotland for adults in Scotland who have been recently diagnosed with bipolar. The service aims to connect anyone who has recently been diagnosed with bipolar and is looking for some support, with a Peer Worker and/or Peer Volunteer who also live with bipolar.

The aim of the service is to help people be able to find a way forward following their diagnosis, and we can provide support for up to six months. All support is delivered remotely by email, phone or video.

Support is person-centred and might look like:

  • Space to talk about your bipolar with someone who understands
  • Help understanding what a diagnosis means for you
  • Support on how to speak to others about your bipolar
  • Support to increase your self-confidence following a diagnosis
  • Help being able to self-advocate for what you need with medical professionals
  • Support to stay in work or education
  • Support extended to those important people in your life

This is an opportunity to connect with others who can understand what you’re going through, and help you come to terms with your diagnosis and discover meaningful resources for living well with bipolar.

How do I access this?

  • Self-referrals
  • Referrals by third parties

Once you get in touch, one of Bipolar Scotland’s Peer Workers will arrange an appointment at a convenient time for you.
