Women’s Aid East and Midlothian
Women’s Aid East and Midlothian supports women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. It is a confidential service that provides information, support and temporary accommodation to women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse.
The service is fully confidential and non-judgemental. Women’s Aid know that making the first step is really hard, and will work with you are your own pace.
Whilst living in refuge, you have access to a named worker who will discuss your individual support needs.
There is three types of refuge accommodation:
Shared accommodation – a house in which different families have their own bedroom but share facilities including kitchen, living room and bathroom.
Satellite Flat – a flat within community that is used to accommodate one family, we try to use this accommodation for larger families.
Self Contained Flats – five flats within the same building. These flats are suitable for single women and families. We have one flat that is wheelchair accessible. This building has communal facilities and on site office.
When women leave our refuge accommodation, they are offered continued support for an agreed period.
