VOCAL Carers Centre Midlothian
VOCAL (Voice of Carers Across the Lothians) is a carer-led organisation working with family members, partners and friends who are caring for someone.
Service Description
A carer is anyone who looks after another person on an unpaid basis. This could be due to a long term condition or illness, a mental or physical health issues, disability, or addiction.
Carer Support
Carers can talk to a carer support worker about their support needs, their hopes and goals for the future and work out next steps. VOCAL’s Carer Support staff support carers to complete adult carer support plans and emergency plans.
Counselling
COSCA recognised counselling is open to carers who require emotional support. Financial contributions are agreed at a level to suit your individual circumstances.
Training, Groupwork and Surgeries
This gives you the opportunity to meet other carers, increase your confidence, improve your health and develop coping skills to help manage your caring role. VOCAL also run a surgery programme in conjunction with partners and agencies for things such as legal, dementia, energy advice & money matters.
Family Support Addictions
There is support available for family members and friends affected by someone else’s addiction. This service provides one-to-one and group support.
