20 May 2021
The Collab-Connected, would like to invite you to take part in the ongoing participatory project ‘Quipu Recollections’ as part of The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival.
Collab-Connected is a Scottish based group of creatives who work with textiles, visuals, sound and performance, exploring the themes of unspoken truths and finding your voice.
‘Quipu Recollections’ started on the 3 May at the beginning of the SMHAF and will climax with public workshops and a Quipu installation that will be exhibited in October 2021 coinciding with Mental Health Week. The installation will consist of knotted yarns and voices contributed by a diverse and inclusive audience.
There are 100 Quipu Postal Activity Packs to available to anyone who wants one! Collab-Connected’s mission is to have at least 450 participants take part by the end of October 2021. The activity packs are accessible, with additional material for deaf and hard of hearing participants.
The activity is a very gentle reflective process, it provides a method of unravelling past experiences and exploring individual narratives. Collab-Connected hope that it will encourage growth in confidence and self-awareness as participants become part of a growing community. The collective is aware that this experience may open up some unexpected thoughts that participants may need to address and have provided help/advisory phone numbers within the packs for anyone who may need to seek further advice or counselling.
If you would like more information about how to take part, please get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the number of required packs and the address you’d like them to be sent to.
If you’d like to trial the activity for yourself, please sign-up on the Collab-Connected website.
