World Mental Health Day: Saturday 10 October
23 September 2026
World Mental Health Day is Saturday 10 October. This year’s theme is ‘Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change’.
The theme is about listening to people who have experience of mental health difficulties and making sure their voices are heard when decisions are made about mental health support and services.
Mental health affects us all. We can all help by talking openly about mental health, listening to others and helping people find support when they need it.
Looking after your mental health
There are lots of things you can do to look after your mental health. This might include spending time with people you care about, getting outside, doing something you enjoy or taking time to rest.
Eastspace has information and practical tips to help you look after your mental health and wellbeing:

Supporting someone else
If you are worried about someone, talking to them and listening without judgement can help. You don’t need to have all the answers. You can also help them find information or support if they need it.
- How to talk about mental health – tips for starting a conversation.
- Are you thinking about suicide? – information and support if you are having suicidal thoughts or are worried about someone else.
It is also important to look after yourself when supporting someone else. You don’t have to do everything on your own.
Find local support in Midothian
