connecting-scotland

The Scottish Government’s Connecting Scotland programme has opened its phase 2 applications.

More than 23,000 iPads and Chromebooks are being sent out to families and young care leavers, as part of this phase of the £43 million programme.

As well as a new device, you can also receive mobile data and support to use the internet confidently and safely for up to two years.

Connecting Scotland works with local authorities, public bodies and third sector organisations across the nation. The first phase of Connecting Scotland aimed to reach people who were clinically vulnerable to coronavirus.

Who can apply for this?

If you are registered care home in Scotland, you can apply for an iPad and internet connectivity as part of the Digital Inclusion – Connecting Residents in Scotland’s Care Homes initiative.

The target groups for Phase 2 are:

  • households with children, or where a child is normally resident (this includes pregnant women with no child in the household)
  • care leavers up to the age of 26 (in line with eligibility for aftercare support)

Applications opened: 24 November

Closing date: 11 am on 18 January 2021.
