New Directions

Wellbeing Scotland are a voluntary organisation with services across Scotland. Since 1994 we have provided client centred, holistic, trauma informed therapeutic services to children and families, specialising in abuse and trauma work.

Our New Directions service offers support to children and young people 5-18 and/or parents who are experiencing difficulties which are impacting upon their wellbeing. The service provides a safe, positive and supportive environment to explore issues, thoughts and feelings. Concerns may be a result of a child’s own trauma or through living with parents who are experiencing difficulties. Some of the presenting issues we provide support for include abuse/ trauma, childhood sexual exploitation (CSE), domestic violence, bullying, coping with parental health issues, parental substance misuse, bereavement, family separation, anger, depression, anxiety, and grief.

The service offers a range of support including therapeutic play, art therapy, counselling and group work. Services are provided by a psychological counsellor and volunteers where appropriate. The service is open-ended, within the limits of our funding, in recognition of the fact that every individual’s experience is different and unique to them as is their journey to recovery.
