Bright Light

Bright Light offers a range of services to people who are having relationship difficulties. These are open to couples who are thinking of staying together, or going through a separation or divorce. The service can also support people who have recently come out of a relationship.

Couple counselling offers you a chance to explore your feelings with a counsellor working with both you and your partner to promote better understanding of your relationship. The counsellor can support you to reach the outcome you both wish to achieve, whether it is to stay together, separation or divorce.

Couples seek counselling for lots of reasons, such as parenting differences, conflict, extended family issues or general relationship difficulties. For couples where there are issues around domestic abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence,  controlling behaviour, excessive alcohol and/ or drug use, or anger within the couple relationship, Restorative Practice can help.

Other services offered includes:

  • Sexual and Relationship Therapy
  • Family Therapy
  • Individual Counselling
  • Resource Hub

This service is accredited/members of British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy & COSCA – Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland.  If you would like to find out more information on these regulatory bodies, please click here – BACP & COSCA

Appointments should be organised though the central office in Edinburgh. Clients are asked to attend an initial welcome meeting and for a payment of £29. Thereafter, a contribution of £60 per counselling session is asked.  In cases of financial hardship, Bright Light can consider a reduced amount of £30. If you would struggle to pay this lower amount then please call the team on 0131 556 1527 to have a chat and the team will work with you to see what is affordable. You can also discuss this with the counsellor at your initial meeting
